Studies

Nighttime

Is it possible to paint with fabric? Our artists explored the expressive qualities of reclaimed fibers in this experimental study. Using wool and linen remnants cut into small brushstroke-like daubs, they arranged them in a dynamic composition that is nearly six-feet-long. Earthy colors juxtapose and blend with one another, sometimes resembling paint or oil pastels.

  • Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
