Wallworks

Red Space

Color and texture abound in this abstract expressionist wallwork. Assembled by the artist’s hand, hundreds of pieces of reclaimed textiles are layered and felted in such a way as to create profound depth of field. Swirling silks intermingle with wool and linen, each fabric transformed by the industrial felting process. As the remnants become one solid piece, intricate details — the seam of a hem, an arc of neckline, and so on — come through in varying degrees of opacity.

  • Wallworks, in their most essential guise, are large-scale, one-of-a-kind wall hangings felted from reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing. The variety of materials, colors, and hand-arranged compositions renders each piece wholly unique. The size and textural quality of Wallworks make for a stunning addition to private and public spaces alike, providing visual impact and a modicum of acoustic dampening. Wallworks were first displayed in the Waste No More exhibit at Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano, the prestigious furniture and design trade fair.
