Studies
New Weave
This wall-ready study showcases the delightful 3-D qualities of natural fibers. Felted strips of reclaimed silk, wool, and linen are basket-woven to produce a rhythm of texture and color. Surrounding forms take on a more seamless, flat-woven quality and end in knotted fringe. A small lagoon of turquoise punctuates the melange of cardinal reds, pinks, and purples with unexpected boldness. There is exquisite beauty in the contrast.

Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
